I had a unique experience at Moevenpick Hotel Hamburg City, thanks to its interesting architecture, being a former water tower. The location was quite convenient for exploring the city with quick access to public transport, and the nearby area had plenty of bars and restaurants. However, I did find the restaurant's atmosphere lacking during dinner, and some staff were not as approachable as I had hoped. 🤔
Rooms
8.0
My room was comfortable and clean, though it felt a bit unconventional due to the hotel's design as a former water tower. I appreciated the size and comfort of the bed, but the lack of English TV channels was a disappointment.
Service
6.0
While some staff members were helpful and friendly, I experienced a few lapses in service efficiency, particularly at the reception during breakfast. I had to remind them for tea and coffee supplies in my room.
Location
8.0
The hotel is positioned perfectly, just outside the bustling central tourist area but still close to the train station and local eateries. I enjoyed the park view from my room and the option to walk into downtown Hamburg in about 20-40 minutes.
Dining
7.0
The breakfast was a highlight with a great variety of options, but dinner in the restaurant could use an ambience upgrade since it felt a bit lifeless. I did enjoy a reasonable dinner one night, though.
Facilities
7.0
The hotel had adequate facilities, including room service and laundry options. The design was modern while retaining historical features, which I found quite charming. However, the lack of some amenities, like English TV channels, fell short of my expectations.

My stay at the Mövenpick Hotel Hamburg City was a mix of highs and lows. The unique architecture and charm of the building, a converted water tower, definitely stood out, but I faced some challenges during my visit. While I appreciated the friendly staff and enjoyed a delicious breakfast, a few service aspects and room issues left me feeling disappointed.
Rooms
6.0
My room was quite spacious and clean, but I did experience issues with a broken toilet seat and a missing window blind, which affected my overall comfort. Additionally, the layout was quirky, which I found interesting, yet it did pose some inconveniences during my stay.
Service
6.0
The staff at the hotel were generally friendly and helpful, but I found the service to be quite slow at times, particularly during check-in and with requests for issues in my room. It felt like there was a lack of attention to details that could have enhanced my experience significantly.
Location
7.0
The hotel is situated in an iconic building on the outskirts of the city center, which I found to be a unique feature. However, the location wasn't as convenient as expected for someone looking to explore the city quickly, though I appreciated the proximity to parks and public transport.
Dining
8.0
Breakfast was a major highlight for me, featuring an impressive variety and high quality, with the scrambled eggs being particularly noteworthy. However, the limited restaurant hours during my stay were disappointing, as the restaurant was closed on Sunday and Monday evenings.
Facilities
7.0
While the facilities offered a good range of options like room service and a fitness center, I felt there were some aspects that were lacking, such as no bell staff and limited operational hours for the bar and restaurant. The aesthetic of the common areas was pleasant, making the hotel inviting overall.

I had a mixed experience at Moevenpick Hotel Hamburg City. The building itself is unique, being a converted water tower, and offers some lovely city views. However, I was disappointed with the service, as the reception staff weren't very helpful during check-in, and the restaurant was closed on Sundays and Mondays. On the positive side, the breakfast was a standout feature with an impressive selection, and the rooms were clean and comfortable.
Rooms
6.0
The room I stayed in was tidy and spacious, but I did notice quirks in the layout, and the TV was malfunctioning. Additionally, the bathroom had an odd window above the bed that led to confusion.
Service
5.0
The service in general left much to be desired. While some staff were friendly, the reception experience was notably unfriendly, especially when dealing with a booking mix-up. Overall, they seemed a bit understaffed and overwhelmed.
Location
7.0
The hotel's location is quite good, as it's near a U-Bahn station and a lovely park, making it easy to explore Hamburg. However, the area had some loitering young men that could feel a bit intimidating, especially late at night.
Dining
8.0
Breakfast was truly enjoyable with a wide variety of options, but it was disappointing that the restaurant was closed on certain nights, which limited dining choices during my stay.
Facilities
6.0
The hotel had some interesting facilities, but the lack of a functioning gym and the absence of room service were notable downsides. I appreciated the unique atmosphere of the bar, though.
